What a mixed-up world in which we live. My daughter showed me a graphic meme yesterday that said: “In Oregon, cocaine is legal, but straws are not. That must be frustrating.” The meme is funny and points out the irony and outlandishness of modern thinking. It is understandable why believers are falling to their knees and crying out for a word or sign from God to help us persevere — to light this present darkness.
And there is good news — He has given us exactly the sign we need!
But Jesus replied, “Only an evil, adulterous generation would demand a miraculous sign; but the only sign I will give them is the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights.” Matthew 12:39 NLT
Dear ones, we don’t need a new sign; we just need to believe the true sign, the game-changer, the sign above all other signs – The Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God, rose from the dead! The passion and victory of Christ is the only sign we will ever need. Why?
- Because by His death He redeemed the world from sin, taking it upon Himself
- Because by His resurrection He conquered death, hell, and the grave, once for all
- Because all who follow Him by faith are residents of His kingdom, where life is eternal, joy is full, and love is unfailing
- And because the sufferings of this life are not worthy to be compared to the riches of the life we now lead in Christ
He has risen! It’s the only sign we will ever need. Be bold, be strong, help the struggling, stand for the unborn, and follow Jesus — He has prevailed, walk in His victory!
