Sri Lanka and The King of Glory
“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.” Romans 8:28
When the imposing stone rolled away from the tomb and Christ rose from the dead on that first Easter morning, the King of Glory, Jesus Christ, walked away from the grave as the first fruits of those who would follow Him into eternal life. He defeated death from within death, destroying, once and for all, the permanence and terminality of death.
Now, in exchange for death He offers eternal life. Millions of people have accepted this free gift through the centuries, and likely many more did even yesterday on Holy Resurrection Sunday. And while we all remain mortal, our mortality is swallowed up by life when our last breath is breathed. Death cannot, will not, ever win. Christ has defeated death and it cannot separate a believer from their God and Savior. Ever.
The mindless puppets used by Satan’s weakest demons, to murder innocents in Sri Lanka, were people for whom Christ died, people for whom He rose and conquered death. Yet, like so many who have lived, they harbor animosity toward the beauty and love of our Savior God. They are deceived, blind, led as rabid beasts by the hell-bound master of such. Raised to hate the very God who died for their sins.
Like Joseph’s brothers what they mean for evil God will redeem for good as many of the people who have followed their misguided religious path will wake up, realizing this nonsense does not represent their heart. And by the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit, the blinders will be removed from their eyes and they will see the love of God in the face of Jesus Christ and repent. They will turn to Jesus and be saved.
We mourn for those who died or were harmed in Sri Lanka on the day enshrined as the polar opposite of death, the day death was defeated by Life.
We pray for God’s mercy on each and every soul and surviving family and loved ones. May the King of Glory meet you in your grief and hold you close in His love.
Who is this King of Glory?
The Lord of hosts, He is the King of Glory.
Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death,
And upon those in the tombs bestowing life.
